Avocado Green Smoothie is a nutritious, vegan smoothie made in minutes. Combining fresh fruits and vegetables, this healthy pick me up is a delicious way to get your little ones to eat their veggies!
The other day I went to my local Rainbow Foods to pick up some produce. Their cored, fresh pineapple is a favorite, and a welcome addition to our diets as we make an effort to increase our fruit and vegetable intake after the New Year. As I continued shopping the produce section, I noticed little tags that said ‘organic,’ ‘gluten free,’ and ‘vegan.’ I learned this was part of their health key™ system, which is a wellness program designed to simplify your shopping experience and make it easier to select healthier foods.
I noticed the health key™ system tags throughout my shopping trip, from almond milk to ground flaxseed to cooking spray and more. It made it easier to just grab the items and go, because when you are shopping with two kids who are 3 and under, that’s kind of what ends up happening.
There are many fruits and vegetables that I like to buy organic, especially spinach and other leafy greens. I was able to quickly and easily find these thanks to the ‘organic’ tag, and these greens became the inspiration to make a recipe for the ever popular Green Smoothie.
Since I wanted the smoothie to be vegan, I grabbed an (organic!) avocado to give the smoothie that creamy, smooth texture filled with healthy fats and nutrients. The avocado brought me back to the pineapple, which makes an excellent combination. I could not wait to get home to make this Avocado Green Smoothie!
Avocado Green Smoothie is a vegan, tropical smoothie made with avocado, pineapple, greens and a frozen banana. After one sip, your body feels re-energized. This healthy smoothie is perfect for an on-the-go breakfast, a quick snack, or whenever you need a healthy boost. I don’t know that I would be able to get my son to eat spinach and avocado separately, but whip them in this smoothie, and he was asking for seconds!
- ½ cup pineapple chunks
- ½ avocado, diced
- 1 cup (2 handfuls) fresh spinach
- ¼ cup pineapple juice (almond milk, soy milk or any other liquid will work)
- 1 tablespoon flaxseed (optional)
- 1 banana (frozen and cut into slices)
- In a blender, process pineapple, avocado, spinach, juice, flaxseed and frozen banana until smooth. Serve chilled.
I love how easy the health tag system makes it to grab healthy items quickly! What an amazing looking recipe:) I’m going to have to try it! #client
I definitely am gonna give these a trial for all the health benefits. Many thanks for sharing them
We just tried this smoothie. OMG! Y.U.M.M.Y. My teenage daughter saw the avocado on the counter and started backing away. LOL! She tried a very small taste and said “Where’s the rest? This is great!” Thanks so much for sharing the recipe
Thanks Michele! The same thing happened with my 3 year old – cautious at first and ended up finishing the rest – ha! 🙂
That looks INCREDIBLY tasty! I always wondered how you got a vegan smoothie to be creamy. We don’t eat much dairy here, but the almond milk just doesn’t do the same thing that yogurt in a smoothie does. The avocado is a great idea! #client
