The American Kitchen

In lieu of a recipe today, let’s continue our conversation about the American Kitchen, plus find out details for entering to win a GE Cafe™ Series Refrigerator worth $3,100! Alida's Kitchen #OurAmericanKitchen A few months ago, many of you shared what you love about your kitchen (in response to this blog post). It was fun and inspiring to read through all of the responses.  From the new appliances to having dinner together as a family to what you are hoping to improve, everybody shared a unique perspective of what each of you loves about your kitchen. However, with each thoughtful response, it became very clear that the saying is indeed true – the kitchen is the heart of the home!

For my family, the kitchen is definitely the busiest room in the house… and it is not because I am baking up treats (though that does make me a bit more popular!). Our kitchen has become more than just a place where we prepare and/or eat meals… so much so that we got rid of our kitchen table!  We now eat meals in the dining room and the space for the eat-in kitchen is an open area with a kid-sized table and chairs where the kids can do their art projects, puzzles, play games, read, run around in circles, and more. In other words, pretty much anything but eat. Alida's Kitchen #OurAmericanKitchen As life changes, our kitchen will evolve as well. But for now, being able to have the kids play right where I work is what defines my American Kitchen. In the meantime, I have a Kitchen Inspiration board on Pinterest to help with ideas to shape the future vision of our kitchen, like new appliances, paint colors, organization tips and more.
For more inspiration, watch the exciting documentary series, brought to you by GE Appliances, exploring the diversity of the American Kitchen called Our American Kitchen. The documentaries explore how real GE Appliances owners, as genuine representatives of Americans and the American experience, are living their lives. What similarities and differences are found?  In seeing all the many ways we are unique from each other in our experiences, what are the things that remain true for all of us? What are the common themes that bind us? This is the idea of Our American Kitchen.

I feel the American Kitchen is the most important room in a house for the family as it is where we all grow. Not just growing from eating nutritious food prepared in the kitchen but growing (closer) as a family & individuals as we come together to eat, relax, converse & work on projects.
